MDS is named BEST BUSINESS for 2018
The Best Ottawa Business (BOB) awards were held on November 16, 2018 to recognize the most successful and influential companies in the city. The ceremony was held at the Westin hotel in downtown Ottawa.
MDS was honoured with one of the biggest awards for the night – BEST BUSINESS! Fellow award recipients included Martello Technologies and Giant Tiger, two powerhouses in their own right.
MDS would like to thank the producers of these awards for this honour: the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade. We also want to thank MDS staff for their immense part in winning this award; your hard work, constant dedication, and tireless support is what makes us who we are and deserving of the title of “Best Business”.
It was a great evening for the Ottawa business community to get together to celebrate the most successful companies and leaders in the city, including live interviews with Sir Terry Matthews and Invest Ottawa CEO Michael Tremblay. It was amazing to see the breadth of sectors that were represented at the awards ceremony – from marijuana production to an arctic airline to cloud services – and to hear from CEOs and CFOs who have made a big impact in Ottawa and the world.

- Canopy Growth’s Bruce Linton wins CEO of the Year award
- Giant Tiger’s Gordon Reid was the Lifetime Achievement recipient
- Mitel’s Steve Spooner wins inaugural CFO of the Year award

The Best Ottawa Business Awards (BOBs) recognize the most successful and innovative companies and business leaders who are driving economic growth and prosperity in the nation’s capital.
Each year, 100+ nominations are submitted and reviewed to determine which companies are deserving of recognition and praise for their accomplishments.
