MDS Recognized Amongst an Elite Group of Canadian Companies.
Toronto, ON, Canada – October 23rd – HSBC Bank Canada and Business without Borders has named MDS a finalist in the International Business Awards. This achievement further solidifies MDS’ position as a leader in the Canadian marketplace. The International Business Awards program celebrates the best in Canadian companies who have branched out beyond our borders subsequently stimulating the Canadian economy. Despite MDS not walking away with the grand prize, we are very pleased to be recognized amongst an elite group of world-class Canadian companies.
“We were extremely honoured to have been selected as one of three finalists in the Large Enterprise Category in HSBC’s International Business Awards, competing with Canadian exporters with revenues over $50 million per year. We presented the story of how MDS has developed and grown from a small firm to become a global leader in the business of designing, building and operating gas turbine test facilities. We have succeeded in this thanks to our longstanding partnerships with our major customers and our reputation for responsiveness, innovation and technical excellence. Everybody at MDS can be justifiably proud of their contribution to this growth and development of the business” – Kevin Fitzgerald, President and CEO.
MDS’ Exporting Achievements
Starting out as a small service contractor, with a handful of employees, MDS has a long history of outstanding achievements. The company very quickly moved from being an engineering consultant in Canada to becoming an integrated provider of large capital projects, equipment and related services in the international market. MDS’ international achievements began in 1988, when it entered the export market selling initially to Morocco’s national airline, Royal Air Maroc, and then expanding its sales operations to the world’s largest manufacturers of gas turbines, including Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Siemens, and General Electric. MDS has participated in the opening up of a number of emerging country markets, and has successfully overcome significant challenges in each. MDS successfully used a wide range of supporting resources and innovative business structures to achieve a sector-dominant position in markets around the world.
