MDS Celebrates Inauguration of nxDAS Test System at GE Aerospace

Nate Roedig (General Manager of Product Validation at GE Aerospace) and Joe Hajjar (Chief Revenue Officer at MDS) inaugurate a new VMS (nxDAS) deployment at a GE Aerospace engine test call on December 17, 2025.

CINCINNATI, OH — On December 17, 2025, MDS Aero Support Corporation marked a significant milestone at GE Aerospace’s Cincinnati-area test cells with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the commissioning of the nxDAS data acquisition system. The event highlighted a strategic collaboration between the two companies, strengthening GE Aerospace’s testing capability, operational agility, and readiness for the next era of aerospace engine programs.

The nxDAS platform, designed and delivered by MDS, is a state-of-the-art data acquisition solution engineered to deliver high-fidelity data capture with exceptional system reliability. Its modular architecture and inherently scalable design support efficient future upgrades and robust obsolescence management, enables a unified, future-ready approach to test operations.

nxDAS integrates multiple data sources using the Instrumentation Data Distribution Service (iDDS) protocol – an open, real-time communications standard developed to modernize data distribution across complex instrumentation and measurement environments.

GE Aerospace developed its Vehicle Monitoring System (VMS) using nxDAS and iDDS. The VMS provides test operators with timely and critical information for the safe and effective conduct of engine and component tests. GE Aerospace’s collaboration with MDS on the VMS shows how the engine maker is advancing modern communications protocols, positioning GE Aerospace to better serve its customers, accelerate innovation, and maintain a strong competitive edge.
