Welcome to the world of the Glacier Test Facility

The successful candidate will be part of a team of a team of personnel to ensure the complete security of this world-class, outdoor aero-engine test site, as well as perform grounds and building maintenance, and facility systems preventative maintenance.

Specific Departmental or Project Duties

  • Maintain complete site security in accordance with company procedures
  • Liaise with management to report any breaches of security and ensure all security records are current in accordance with company procedures
  • Support his/her immediate supervisor
  • Ensure the facility and grounds are kept clean and tidy
  • Perform manual labour such as shovelling snow, grass cutting, moving components, etc.
  • In accordance with the Facility Maintenance Schedule, Safe Working Procedures and Product Support Documentation (Docstation), carry out preventive maintenance of Building Systems and engine test systems such as fuel, compressed air, hydraulic and water systems
  • Ensure that as part of the team you work cost effectively, efficiently and safely
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the capability of the job holder, as requested by the immediate supervision.
  • Operate CAT 966 wheel loader
  • Perform work safely, in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with company Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety policies and procedures

Skills – Essential

  • Excellent attendance and health record in order to satisfy the company’s screening and surveillance requirements
  • Meet the company’s eyesight and hearing test requirements
  • Good communication skills
  • Practical approach to dealing with priorities and problems, remain calm under pressure
  • Good team member who will strive to achieve results
  • To work beyond contracted hours to meet job requirements and to work shifts as required
  • Respond to emergencies, outside of normal working hours
  • A valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of computer software particularly MS Office suite including MS Outlook

Skills – Desirable

  • Willingness to study and achieve higher qualifications
  • Continuous professional development and personal growth
  • A willingness to learn and develop new practices
  • Valid first aid certifications including CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator)
  • Operational experience of a Caterpillar 996 or similar
  • Capable of reading electrical/instrumentation drawings
  • Capable of interpreting piping system schematics

Education

  • High school diploma
  • Served recognized apprenticeship ether in electrical, instrumentation, aero or mechanical fields, or hold company training approvals and possess the relevant certificates is desirable
  • Proof of Manitoba security training certification

Experience

  • Operation of fork lifts, scissor lifts and boom arms
  • Operation of CAT 966 wheel loader, or similar
  • Service vehicle engine servicing and minor maintenance
  • Operation of hand tools, power tools and torque wrenches
  • Experience working to defined processes and procedures in an ISO9001 or AS9100, and ISO14001 work environment
  • Experience with operation of large, portable air compressors
