MDS is a fast-growing Aerospace Engineering firm currently servicing some of the world’s leading companies in more than 15 countries worldwide including Rolls-Royce, Siemens, General Electric and Pratt & Whitney. MDS Aero not only provides custom built test facilities and test systems for aviation, industrial, and marine gas turbine engines, we also provide world class service to back it up.

We’re looking for an Aerodynamicist to join our rapidly growing team. Working in partnership with institutions such as the University of Waterloo, the University of Windsor and Carleton University, MDS is on the forefront of developing a new field of science which combines Aerodynamics and Acoustics. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work in collaboration world class Aerodynamicists from our clients which include Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney and General Electric.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in both high level conceptual and detailed design of aero systems, facility planning and equipment layout
  • Development and management of designs from the concept through fabrication and installation including:
    • Detailed design analysis
    • Development of relevant documentation
    • Chairing design reviews
    • Providing technical support to manufacturers

Education & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in the following areas:
    • Gas turbine test cell aerodynamic design
    • Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics of gas turbine engines, including subsonic and supersonic flows, shock waves;
    • Fluid dynamics including:
      • Ejector systems
      • Steady compressible duct flow
      • Forces on bodies
    • CFD analysis and flow measurement
  • Graduate degree in Engineering (PhD preferred) from a recognized university
  • Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) membership or eligibility to obtain
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Experience in designing for and familiarity with the following:
    • Altitude test facility design
    • Compressor test facility design
    • Wind tunnel design
    • Heat transfer and heat exchangers
    • Air handling systems
