MDS Partners with Air France

Ottawa, January 11, 2011 – MDS and Air France Industries have signed a milestone design and supply contract for a new engine test facility near Paris.
The new MDS-designed facility, located at Charles De Gaulle Airport, will be capable of testing engines up to 150,000 lbf.
Air France Industries will carry out post overhaul testing of the CFM56-5a/b/c family of engines, as well as the GE90-94/115 and GP7200. The new facility will also be capable of testing future large engines such as the Trent 1000 & XWB, GENX and other Very Large Engines.
MDS is responsible for the detailed design, including construction site management services.
MDS also will provide all test systems. These include aerodynamic and acoustic elements, a thrust measurement system, 4-engine adapters, mechanical support systems and engine dress equipment. Another feature will be MDS’ market leading proDAS data acquisition and controls systems.
The new state of the art facility replaces an existing test centre at the same site.
With civil design work nearing completion, construction is scheduled to begin in March. Operational start-up is scheduled for June 2012.
